Lascar trailor and promotion

I love this. It was created by my talented son, Ibrahim. He’s 21 and in his final semester at Uni but still had time to do this for me. He loves movie making. He loves to get involved with ‘Lascar.’ Short and simple. It doesn’t need much else.

Front page pic on the Cambridge news on Wed 8th May and article on page 8. I didn’t expect half a page. It did the job. I got a lot of attention for this piece.

Two interviews done. I was a guest at BBC Radio Cambridgeshire ‘Sue Dougan in the Afternoon’ at 12pm on Tues 22nd May. I was nervous…my first live interview. That horrible feeling when you feel the nerves are overtaking you. Fortunately, I beat them back. The interview was ok. Sue was lovely. her interview style was just superb. She made me feel at ease all the way through. Thank you Sue.

Wednesday 23rd May at 4pm, I was invited to the hospital radio at Addenbrookes in Cambridge. we chatted for about an hour with three song choices; Take That-Back for Good. The host, was Bent Larsen kept laughing at that choice!! The BeeGees-You win Again and Phil Oakey-Electric Dreams. The last one didn’t play! He was a pleasure to talk to. No nerves today. It went well.

Need to prepare for the launch on Wed 6the June 2012 at Waterstone’s Cambridge. I need to tweak the slideshow. Print the prize draw tickets. organise the fookd and drinks and more….Keep rehearsing. I’m trying to imagine a room full of people and how I will feel. Nervous?? Yes, most likely. It’s totally out of my comfort zone.

I’ll be holding a book signing at Brick Lane Bookshop, Brick Lane London on Thursday 14th June 2012 at 7pm. With guest speaker, Mayor Lutfur Rahman. (no relation!)

Much more to come…..

30 days away…

A month away until my novel is released. The author copies have arrived! The book looks wonderful! To finally see ‘Lascar’ as a book and not loose numbered papers! I cried when I held the first copy. I finally did it!! The boxes are under the stairs.

I’ve had an interview with the Cambridge News, my local paper. My story should appear a week before the launch! This may increase the numbers attending the launch. I’m hoping so.

The launch is already planned. There’s a new Events Manager called Mark at Waterstone’s Cambridge and I’ll be meeting him next Tuesday. James Newman left earlier this week. He was really nice! He moved on to a different job.

Waterstone’s tell me 40 tickets are already booked. That’s a good number.

My launch is about seeing my old school friends, some I haven’t seen for may years and now we are all in our 40s! Family-yes, it’s actually harder to do a talk in front of people you know. I can imagine my mum having a nag on the front row. She’s never been to a book launch. This will probably be the only one she ever does in her lifetime!  Inviting people I haven’t seen for a long time. I’ve been told, ‘Invite the people you fell out with It’s  a great way of making friends with them again !’ (not that I have fallen out with anyone!!)

Flyers have been sent out, invitations to various different people. Slideshow complete after a number of revisions. I’ve got it now and I’m practicing hard.

Book trailer is coming soon. My son, Ibrahim will be doing that.

The banner stand has arrived. Designed by Duncan Bamford. It’ll be going with me everywhere on every event. Great quality and feel. Thanks Print Designs. I made a perfect choice and it was a bargain!

This is totally out of my comfort zone! What was my comfort zone? I’m not sure anymore. This is a new phase of my life….I’m going to do it well and do it right. I’ve been waiting years for this. It’s almost here……
